We love a box 📦

Full time business owner. Full time single parent. Homeschooling…sometimes Henry has to be left alone with his imagination…and the best gift of all, a cardboard box 🫶🏼📦🫶🏼.

When I need to buckle down and get work done, I try to set up play dates for the boy, but some days it doesn’t work out. He has a check list to complete. Reading time. Even a little amount of screen time is allowed when I have to get stuff done. However, my favorite time is when he just has to keep himself busy.

His imagination and creativity has skyrocketed during this season of life. He’s a kid just allowed to be a kid. When we first were thrown into homeschooling, I was constantly interrupted with, “I’m boreeeed” or Henry needing specific instructions and constant tasks or ideas. Now he figures it out on his own. He comes up with ideas and gets creative on how to implement them. That one box alone has been a shelter, a sled, an airplane…..and now whatever that thing is 🤣

Long live childhood and long live the box! 🎉

There is something so special about being seen through through your clients’ eyes 🥹

When Andrew sent me this reel he made after their proposal session, I honestly could not stop smiling because THIS is exactly the experience I hope my couples walk away with.

Not just beautiful photos.
Not just a gallery for Instagram.

But an experience that felt exciting, natural, fun, and genuinely memorable from start to finish.

The best moments happen when you can relax, be fully present with each other, and actually enjoy the moment instead of worrying about the camera. That’s always my goal. Less “awkward photoshoot,” more “core memory with your favorite third wheel” 😂

Watching the way Andrew and Bianca interacted after the proposal was the sweetest thing ever. The adrenaline, the laughter, the nonstop smiling… you could physically FEEL how excited they were to step into this new season together 🥹

And honestly? Seeing myself through my clients’ eyes in this reel was really special. As photographers, we spend so much time documenting everyone else’s memories that little gestures like this mean more than people probably realize.

Motherhood has shaped my photography in ways I never could have understood before becoming a mother myself. It’s given me a deeper understanding of the moments I’m witnessing and the love that exists inside them.

It has been such a privilege to document motherhood in so many forms.

Now, when I capture an embrace between a mother and child, I see the years behind it. The nurturing. The sacrifice. The quiet pouring into another human being day after day.

I see single mothers getting a second chance at love and getting to show their daughters and sons what strength and redemption looks like. Women stepping wholeheartedly into motherhood as step-mothers. Mothers becoming mother-in-laws. Couples I first met during their engagement season now growing families of their own.

What an honor it is to bear witness to love that runs this deep.

I have a million photos that could have been included in this post, and choosing was nearly impossible.

This is a love letter to every mother I’ve had the privilege of knowing, and an especially heartfelt thank you to the women who have trusted me to capture these pieces of your story. It is an honor I never take lightly.

I love love. I’ll always love it. And I love it even more when I get to be part of the journey for couples like Devon + Maria.

These two are some of the sweetest, most wholesome, God-loving humans, and I am so honored I got to capture this moment for them.

Devon reached out to me FAR in advance (BLESS THIS MAN), and somehow… everything that could go wrong, went wrong.
Plan A: Shenandoah — completely iced over.
Plan B: Washington, DC — also iced over.
THE AUDACITY of this weather.

We pivoted. We replanned. We checked the weather obsessively. And then the night before the original proposal date, Devon emailed me and said:
“I’M DOING IT TOMORROW.” 🤣

So I layered up (approximately 17 layers), grabbed my snow boots, and we made magic happen at the Jefferson Memorial.

Things don’t always go as planned. Life be LIFIN’.
But starting a marriage with adaptability, trust, and grace? That’s a phenomenal foundation.

There is so much beauty in imperfection — and this winter proposal in DC was perfectly theirs. 🤍

One of my winter projects has been tackling the massive backlog of blogs I’ve neglected. My new website now displays my portfolio through storytelling, not galleries. Which I LOVE……until I realized I actually have to go write said blogs 😅

Admin work is no photographer’s favorite hobby, but here’s the unexpected gift in all of it: revisiting the sweetest memories, the most incredible couples, and so many photos ✨I never shared✨.

I’ve gone all the way back through the past 3–4 years, and honestly? It’s been such a joy and the sweetest reminder of how fast time moves and how lucky I am to document these seasons of people’s lives.

In an attempt to do something simple and pretentiously artistic, I woke up and gave a quick google for the definition of “Thanksgiving,” as one does. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the very first definition of “Thanksgiving” wasn’t about a controversial holiday where Americans engorged themselves on food that they only kind of like and only eat twice a year…but about gratitude, specifically expressed towards God.  It makes me a little sad to realize how far we as a society have strayed from this concept, myself included. Truly, I have no one else to thank but God for all that I have. My incredible son, my family, my friends, my home, this business, and countless other blessings that I don’t deserve. It genuinely makes no sense at how ok I am, and how this business has survived 12+ years - because it was certainly not my own doing.

While, we all know I hate social media and posting, and the algorithm demands I keep doing it…I am very happy to make a post today, sharing that God is the center of my life, how I run this business, and that gratitude and a hallelujah will never be enough to express my thanksgiving.

My last fall elopement of the season… and wow, Alexys + Brandon made it unforgettable. 🍂 We stood at the Jefferson Memorial as they shared private vows, exchanged rings, cut their cake, and soaked in every quiet, sacred moment.

And honestly? This felt like the real wedding—just the two of them, choosing each other with intention and tenderness before heading to the courthouse to make it official.
Small, intimate, wildly romantic. The perfect end to fall. 🤍✨
