Before it was trendy to bring a point and shoot everywhere, my grandfather learned that I had started doing photography, and like Papa always did, he wanted to help me.
So he gave me his point and shoot camera, and I thought that it was the sweetest but that Iâd never use it (especially because he didnât give me the charger) so it sat on a shelf in my living room.
After he passed, I started thinking about that camera, and I bought a charger off Amazon and got it working. I realized it not only worked perfectly, but it was also full of memories⌠my middle school band concert, his trip to the Masters, the birth of great grandchildrenâŚ
It reminded me why photos matter. I treasure every. single. photo. of the things he valued enough to take a picture of. It reminded me why what I get to do is such a gift⌠for those I photograph and for me.
So, I took his camera with me on our anniversary trip, and focused on things that mattered to me so when my grandkids find my photos one day, theyâll know what I thought was worth documenting. đ¸
