🚨 EDOUARD MAKES LANDFALL 🚨

Tropical Storm Edouard has made landfall in far southwest Louisiana just east of the TX/LA state line at about 2pm CDT on Tuesday (9/1/2026).

Edouard continued to strengthen until landfall, and it came ashore at 60mph. Rain and gusty winds are the biggest impacts currently but now we will see flooding become the issue soon.

🚨 Tropical Depression 5 has formed! 🚨

As of 1pm CDT on Monday 8/31, Tropical Depression 5 has formed and likely to become Tropical Storm Edouard in the coming hours.

The general path is northwest from here and making landfall Tuesday PM near or east of Houston as a Tropical Storm. A few models show the potential for a Category 1 hurricane so that’s possible, but thankfully this storm just won’t have enough time over water to go nuts.

The biggest impacts will be rough waves and flooding rains in southeast Texas and southwest Louisiana.

The latest run of the HWRF hurricane model shows a hurricane making landfall early Tuesday along the TX/LA border region of the Gulf coast.

While intensity it very hard to estimate now as the system is developing, the background environment and water temperatures are quite favorable for this storm to take advantage of. The next name is Edouard on the list.

8pm ET (8/30/2026) update from the National Hurricane Center has raised the development chances for to 70%. They also mentioned the chance of issuing watches/warnings tonight.

Invest 97L is churning in the northern Gulf south of New Orleans as of Sunday evening but has its sights set on the Houston area in about 48 hours from now!

The below model graphic is an ensemble of all the standard and AI models showing a pretty consistent target of southeast TX.

As of now, there’s probably not enough time for this to become a strong system, but a tropical storm seems quite possible given a favorable environment and warm waters. Rough surf and heavy rain and flooding will likely be the biggest impacts from this storm.

Invest 97L (next name is Eduardo) is flaring us Sunday morning in the Gulf and looks likely to move west northwest over the next 48-60 hours.

It’s important to note that not every model develops this into an organized system, and even the models that do don’t show a strong storm.

The most likely impacts will be increased rough surf and rain for the upper Texas coast and Louisiana over the coming days.
