I think one of the things I love most about engagement sessions is the chance to be creative in ways you don’t always get on a wedding day.
Weddings have those must-have moments. The kiss. The first dance. The reactions. The moments you only get one chance to capture. And while there’s still plenty of room to be creative, sometimes you just have to get the shot.
Engagement sessions are different.
They’re a chance for me to get comfortable with a couple, for them to get comfortable with me, and for all of us to play a little. I can experiment with settings, lighting, compositions, and techniques that I might not normally have time to try on a wedding day.
This past weekend I had a quick engagement session out at Walnut Grove Farm and decided to try something I’d never done before: an in-camera double exposure.
I experimented with a few throughout the session, but this first one was easily still my favorite.
And honestly, that’s part of why I love doing this. Even after all these years, there’s still something new to try!
