Pulled off to check out the Walker River (just south of Walker, CA) when the snow started. Shortly after this, it was whiteout conditions all the way till 2-thirds of the way down the Sherwin Grade. Only got a little nervous coming down the Conway Grade in 6-12” of snow/ice on the road but the truck was handling so well it didn’t take too long to be put at ease. It was an adventure for the books and a valentines weekend we ain’t gonna forget!

Now printing in-house and it’s totally worth it! The printer exceeded expectations and with specialized packing materials I can print to order and have it out shipped same day. Don’t need to wait for a test print to come back from a printing service and don’t need to add middle man costs to prints. This also allows us to try out different papers. Huge thanks to my love for getting in on this endeavor/rabbit hole, and .vanmeter and the rest of for their expertise and taking my money and turning it into happiness over the years. This rundown shack (condemned, but not abandoned) gets photographed very often. As a matter of fact, someone was just on the other side of it while this got taken. Everyone always go for the same angles; I will take the not so popular angles. It’s not THE subject of the frame, the entire frame is the subject. Someone else pulled up just as we were leaving. The guy that was there before we pulled up, his name is Mark and also from Nevada. Very nice man, and we got to talking a little bit and both have a disdain for social media ‘modeling’ and influencing. If you truly want to influence people to go somewhere to look at scenery, then photograph the scenery; not you in it. It’s about you at that point and not about where you’re at. (Another social media buzz word I cannot stand: ‘abandoned’ - someone owns it, it’s not abandoned. And this old dwelling has a story, but someone still owns it and respect their fence, even though it was downed in a section).

My first time spotting on a fairly animate Lake Michigan. I am definitely going to look into that tour on my next trip out!
