How has it been a year since this wedding already? I'll always remember the vows, Chelsea laughing and crying at the same time through the veil, while Alon stayed steady beside her. They chose The Ruins at Sassafras in New Lebanon because they wanted a day that would feel like them. They needed a venue expansive enough to host their family for the weekend, plus their whole frisbee community, the teammates who had become family. After the ceremony we explored part of the grounds before they walked behind the chair factory into cocktail hour, received by their cheering friends. Later during golden hour they took us through the stone ruins, across a small bridge above the waterfall, out to the pond where the willow branches caught the last of the light. Happy anniversary, and here's to many more happy years.

There are a lot of reasons why I arrive early to proposals. First, you never know what you will find when arriving at the spot and some adjustments need to be made.

At a recent proposal I had to pack up and move four bright red Adirondack chairs that absolutely killed the view.

At this proposal I had to save two runners in the Breakneck Marathon who almost ran straight off the cliff, like lemmings.

Then, I had to ruin some kids' cliff-climbing adventures 😂 That's definitely my least favorite part of photographing proposals at scenic locations like the trails in Cold Spring. However, I will do it (politely) for my clients, who have worked hard at planning this moment for a long time. Having already done our video planning call, I know exactly what they envision and I'm there to help them create the experience they dreamt of.

Plus, the proposal doesn't take that long...the hikers can always just wait us out if they'd like to!

Taylor and Ben grew up near Beacon, so when we designed their engagement session route, we walked streets they already knew by heart. We started at Long Dock Park before the crowds arrived, then made our way up Main Street to The Roundhouse, their wedding venue this August. Along the way, Taylor pointed out shops she's known her whole life and shared stories from her family's past. There's a convenience store just around the corner that still carries her family name. I'm looking forward to documenting their upcoming wedding day!

From the groom's parade to the waterfront ceremony at Fortune Vally Manor, Justine and Shriman's day was vibrant, full of life and family, and rich in emotions. It felt like we were caught in a whirlwind that took us somewhere beautiful and exciting. Happy 1 year anniversary!

Sara and Mike chose to elope on a fruit farm in the Hudson Valley on a Wednesday in late May last year. They booked an Airbnb in Croton for their getting ready photos, where they also did a first look. They said their vows in the orchard at Wilken's Farm, participated in a handfasting ceremony with an officiant under a majestic oak tree, and then spent an hour exploring the farm. When the rain picked up they laughed it off and opened a clear umbrella for the rest of the afternoon, before cutting cake in a gazebo and sharing with their two friends who were present as witnesses (I had a slice too, it was amazing). Happy first anniversary!

We were waiting for the elevator to take us up to the patio area at Villa Barone Hilltop Manor when Marisa and Rick shares this with me on Saturday. I was completely taken aback, not only that they had seen these images that I posted a while ago, but that they made such an impression that, a year+ later they felt calm and confident on their rainy wedding day, knowing that we would still achieve amazing photos together.

I am very grateful that they took the time to share this with me, just as I am grateful for couples who are aligned with what I do and value. Yes, I will sometimes get in the water or rain to create the photo. Having the opportunity to do that with adventurous and trusting couples is a blessing.

Scroll to see my top three BTS shots of me taking photos in the water. My hope is to always give peace of mind and a calm presence on a wedding day, especially when we are adventuring or dealing with adverse weather.

Some previews from Megh and Simran’s proposal at Storm King Art Center. They had a gorgeous sunny day, a thoughtful and personalized setup, and two families who traveled for hours to share in their special moment and show their support (scroll to the end). The energy and love was contagious and the end of the engagement photos felt like a preview of the future wedding celebrations.

Previews from Kate and Justin’s wedding this past weekend. It was my first wedding at the Bird and Bottle Inn, my hometown favorite restaurant. It was also the first time I’ve done a wedding with a tattoo artist, which was pretty awesome. Congratulations Kate and Justin!

First look moments from Brittany and Joe’s beautiful early spring wedding day at VIP Country Club. Being right on the water in lower Westchester is a little different from my typical mountain views at home in Garrison, but it is a welcome change. This morning was full of beautiful moments.
