Thank you, everyone, for the thoughtful wishes yesterday. I've never been much for celebrating my own birthday. My preferred approach is usually to hide quietly until the attention passes.

That said, I've been informed that 53 is the age when carrying a Kleenex in your sleeve is considered practical, discussing your fiber intake is normal conversation, your purse contains emergency Juicy Fruit and saltines, every story begins with, "Now, I don't know if they still do this...", and every ache is simply dismissed as "a touch of arthritis."

Apparently, I'm right on schedule!

Founded in Asheville, North Carolina in 1933, Stuart Nye jewelry became beloved for its handcrafted floral designs inspired by the Blue Ridge Mountains and American Arts & Crafts tradition. His sterling flower pieces remain some of the most sought-after examples of mid-century artisan jewelry.

Vintage Roslyn Hoffman Copper Cuff & Convertible Pendant Brooch Set * California Artisan Modernist Jewelry circa 1950s

A beautifully sculptural mid-century copper set by Roslyn Hoffman, featuring a wide hammered cuff bracelet and a matching convertible brooch pendant with an organic leaf motif. The softly dimpled edges and hand-worked copper give both pieces a warm, earthy, almost woodland-modern feel.

Signed Roslyn Hoffman, from the Santa Monica jewelry studio founded by Roslyn and Robert Hoffman in the 1950s.

The brooch features both a rollover clasp and pendant bale, allowing it to be worn two ways.

Brooch/pendant measures 2.5" diameter.

A rooftop shoot with Grey DeLisle at Pasadena’s storied Castle Green, wearing an extraordinary 1950s prom gown that eventually became someone’s wedding dress. Which is exactly why I love true vintage! The best pieces tend to live multiple lives.

By Spring 2027, my hope is to have the shop filled with one-of-a- kind vintage prom, evening, and wedding gowns.

Vintage 1970s Bell Trading Company Copper & Turquoise Cuff Bracelet

Price: $150

Handmade in New Mexico during the 1970s, this striking vintage cuff by Bell Trading Company features solid copper inlaid with irregular stabilized turquoise chips, creating a beautiful mosaic of earthy Southwest color and texture. Substantial and sturdy with a richly patinated finish.

The copper can be polished to a bright, warm glow or left untouched in its current rustic, timeworn state. In excellent vintage condition with no major flaws noted. Best suited for a 6" wrist or smaller.

Stamped: Bell Trading Company bell mark, “Solid Copper”
Measurements: 1.125" wide, 5" inner circumference with 1" opening gap

Vintage Matisse Renoir Enamel Copper Artist’s Palette Brooch & Clip-On Earring Set

A striking mid-century set by Matisse Renoir, featuring figural artist’s palettes in richly enameled copper. The deep ruby red enamel is flecked with gold, white, and multicolored “paint,” with sculptural copper paintbrushes threaded through each piece for a wonderfully playful studio-inspired design.

The brooch holds three copper brushes, while each clip-on earring features two. All pieces are signed Matisse on the reverse.

Brooch: 4.25" long x 1.75" wide
Earrings: 1.75" long x 0.75" wide

Very good vintage condition with secure clasp and clip mechanisms. Minor edge wear consistent with age, but no major damage.

A fabulous statement set for an artist, art teacher, or anyone who appreciates bold Atomic Era design.

About Matisse Renoir:
The Matisse mark was reserved for Renoir’s celebrated enameled copper jewelry introduced in the early 1950s. Known for vivid color and sculptural modernist forms, these pieces became wearable little canvases from the golden age of American studio jewelry.

Matisse “Scarab” Copper 1950s Cuff Bracelet & Clip-On Earrings Set

A glamorous slice of Atomic Age Hollywood, this midcentury modern MATISSE “Scarab” cuff and earring set by RENOIR OF CALIFORNIA pairs sculptural copper with colorful faux enamel cabochons in varying shapes and sizes. Shades of green, pink, turquoise, orange, red, white, and speckled enamel create a bold, candy-box palette, while several stones contain copper dust that sparkles beautifully in direct light. The design is featured in Copper Art Jewelry by Matthew L. Burkholz and Linda Lichtenberg Kaplan.

Beautifully preserved after more than 70 years, this set shows only gentle, respectful wear and remains a remarkable survivor.

Founded in Santa Monica in 1946 by artist and WWII fighter pilot Jerry Fels, RENOIR became known for its bold modernist copper jewelry. Its MATISSE line, featuring vivid enamel accents, became a favorite of Hollywood stars including Lana Turner and Bette Davis.
