My name is Keegan Harp, and I’m a 14-year-old upcoming sophomore who has developed a passion for sports photography. I’ve been taking photos since December 2024, and while many people know me from the photos I post from Genoa sporting events, I’m also a student-athlete myself. I compete for Genoa’s track and field team, so I understand firsthand the dedication, effort, and emotion that athletes put into their sports.
As an athlete, I’ve always wished there were more quality photos of the moments that matter most. Whether it’s a personal record, a big win, a championship moment, or simply a memory with teammates, those moments deserve to be captured. That’s one of the reasons I became interested in photography. I wanted to help preserve those memories for Genoa athletes, their families, and the fans who support them.
Over the past few years, I’ve spent countless hours on the sidelines taking photos and trying to improve my skills. There’s nothing better than catching the exact moment a player makes a huge play or seeing an athlete excited to find a photo from one of their favorite games.
Photography has become much more than a hobby for me. It’s something I truly enjoy and hope to continue doing for years to come.
The biggest challenge right now is my equipment. My camera has served me well, but sports photography is demanding. Fast-moving athletes, night games, gym lighting, and long distances push older equipment to its limits. There are many moments I know I could capture better if I had gear that could keep up with the speed of the action.
Because of that, I’ve set a goal to save money and upgrade my camera equipment. My goal isn’t simply to own nicer gear. My goal is to continue providing Genoa athletes, families, and fans with the best photos possible while improving my skills as a photographer.
To also help reach that goal, I’m starting a GoFundMe to help raise money for upgraded camera equipment. Any support, no matter the amount, will help me continue capturing and sharing photos of Genoa athletes and events while improving the quality of the images I can provide to the community.
While I’m grateful for any donations, I’m also completely willing to continue putting in hard work around town. From odd jobs and yard work to helping with just about anything I can, I’m committed to earning money toward my goal and doing my part to make this happen.
Every contribution brings me one step closer to upgrading my equipment and continuing to capture the moments that make Genoa sports special.
