A couple of weeks ago my Uncle John invited me on a last minute fishing trip to Canada! He is an inspiration to me with how unstoppable he is. A lot of family members were worried about how well the trip would go due to heath issues he’s been battling for years now. But he was as spry as a spring chicken the whole trip! John is always patient and kind to everyone he meets, I like to think that I have some of that too.

This was my second documentary from 5 years ago. This will always be one of my favorite pieces that I can never forget. When people let you in their life to capture extremely intimate moments those moments stick with you forever. There hasn't been a time where I watch this film or hear Simple Man without crying. It's hard to put into words how grateful I am for every one in this family to allow us in for this short. ❤

If you are sensitive to the topic of dementia and losing loved ones then please watch with care.

A family copes when a loved one is diagnosed with fronto-temporal dementia, showing how the power of music can be greater than any mental disease.

I'm not 100% sure what happened to this roll but I'm not mad at how these shots turned out. My Pentax 6x7 mirror kept getting stuck in the cold. To get the camera to fire I had to smack it on the head! Oh the joys of low temperatures.

Taming the green colors from old-growth forests can be quite the challenge. Usually, I will create a quick grade right after a photo session, export the photos, sleep, and then revisit the color grade.

Today's touch-ups included some light dodging and burning, cropping the image to a 10x20, bringing down the vibrance, and warming up the temperature.

While I wish I could say this is my final edit of this photo. I'm sure to have more small edits in the next few days. But I thought I would share a small part of how I look at color in photos.

We went on a quick hike through Silver Falls this morning. Currently, I've snuggled up with some spiked hot chocolate while editing photos. Here are a couple quick edits!
