๐๐๐๐๐ If youโre looking for an unforgettable farm stay, I canโt recommend this place highly enough! Spending a weekend with the Scottish Highland **coos** was an absolute dream. Being able to experience these gentle, beautiful animals up close and personal was something weโll never forget.
The accommodations were perfect - cozy, comfortable, and full of charm. The private apartment has a nostalgic 1970s farmhouse feel, like staying at your favorite aunt and uncleโs place as a child, with thoughtful vintage touches throughout. We especially loved the cookie jars, unique dรฉcor, and the bookshelf stocked with books, puzzles, and games. Even if the weather doesnโt cooperate, thereโs plenty to keep everyone entertained.
One of the things we appreciated most was how well-equipped the farmhouse-apartment was. You really only need to show up with your favorite groceries. Farm-fresh eggs are waiting for you on the counter, along with pancake mix, butter, and syrup for an easy country breakfast. The kitchen is thoughtfully stocked with all the pots, pans, dishes, utensils, and essentials you could need, making it feel just like home. Itโs one less thing to think about so you can simply relax and enjoy your stay.
One thing to keep in mind is that the apartment is accessed by approximately 10โ13 exterior deck stairs, and the bedrooms are located on the lower level, requiring two short flights of stairs similar to a split-level home. It wasnโt an issue for our group, but guests with limited mobility or anyone who has difficulty navigating stairs may want to take this into consideration when booking.
There is a private deck with a patio table and umbrella, which quickly became our favorite spot. Mornings were spent simply gazing over the farm, reading with a cup of coffee, meals and snack time were enjoyed outdoors, and the soundtrack was nothing but nature โ breeze rustling through the leaves, the coos, peacocks, and roosters. In the evenings, there is a fire pit thatโs perfect for relaxing and making sโmores under the stars.
The hosts were absolutely wonderful. They struck the perfect balance between respecting our privacy and being genuinely available whenever we wanted to visit or ask questions. Their love for the farm and the local area shines through, and they were incredibly generous in sharing their knowledge.
They also provide an exceptionally thorough binder filled with local attractions, restaurants that a short ten minutes away, including the delightful Ann River Winery. The binder also included bios on each of their critters and that was fun! I especially appreciated that they included LGBTQ+ resources and welcoming businesses in the area.
Knowing what I know now, I would have booked at least a three-night stay instead of two, and one day I hope to schedule an entire week. This is the perfect place to unplug from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, slow down, reconnect with nature, and simply enjoy the peaceful rhythm of the farm.
We left with wonderful memories, and weโre already looking forward to coming back.
