I don’t love this part.

It feels like determining the value of myself and of putting a price on your memories. It also feels like I’m putting myself in the running with so many other professional photographers I admire. However, I know the world is expensive right now and we’re all just out here trying to find what makes us feel good. Photos are part of that. So, if you’d like memories captured, I’m a budget-friendly option. I’m also happy to trade for services or allow for payment plans.

Thank you all for allowing me to reach this point on my journey. It’s been fun. It’s been heckin busy. It’s been really, devastatingly beautiful. A special thank you to those of you who have taken a chance on me. It means the world.

If you’re half as surprised to see this on your feed as I am to be posting this, you’re pretty darn surprised.

This summer what started as a lil hobby, a lil attempt at something creative and beyond my comfort zone has taken off. I’m no longer reaching out to people to find willing subjects.

I’m getting messages.
Of real people.
Who like (sometimes love) my photos.
And want them of themselves.

Going into this shoot, I had very little information. I knew the why. I knew the who, the when, and the where. I even knew the what. But, I didn’t know that it would feel like it felt. Like a blessing. Like a gift. Like a combination of the best parts of girlhood and womanhood.

To hear their laughter, the rustle of their skirts against the sage and grasses of the prairie, their mother sharing information about medicine and life. To think of how often a walk, with the ones you love, amidst a land you admire, can soothe your heart, your woes, and your worries. That women have been relying on one another to carry their wounds for a millennia. That it is what we do. We build communities. We carry each other. We share information to serve one another.

And it is all love. And it heals.

A few weeks ago, I set up a Facebook event for girls in Great Falls to meet up and take photos together. I think we were all a bit nervous but as I listened to their conversations and watched them interact I was once again reminded how important girl gangs are. We are community centered creatures. We need people.

Several years ago now I booked a stylized shoot for myself. I wanted to be in the water and feel like a sunset, fairy goddess. Someone close to me at the time said that it was ridiculous and I ended up cancelling. I regret that.

Sessions like this and the aspiration of wanting to do shoots like this is what really inspired me to start this page. I realize that family, friends, and portraits are most of what I post but this is what I want to do.

Thank you to Libby for making my dreams come true and being so comfortable as yourself. Spending time with you and being creative filled my soul. You are a wonder.

If you want to feel like your Margot Robbie or a fairy goddess, let me know. As of right now, any stylized or creative shoot would be free! You would just need to invest your time and creative spirit.

And, most importantly, never let a man tell you how to live your life.
