One of my favorite weekends of the year!
By tomorrow, the quiet of the park will begin to disappear. The sound of vehicles pulling in, volunteers unloading supplies, and the first familiar greetings between friends will fill the air. Soon, tents will be standing, lights will be shining, food will be cooking, music will be playing, and the laughter of children will once again echo through the park.
For many of us, it will feel familiar. It will feel like Labor Day in Green Castle.
But before the music begins, before the food is served, before the crowds fill the park, we want to take a moment to remember what truly makes this celebration possible.
The Green Castle Community Labor Day Celebration is more than just four days of events. It is the volunteers who spend countless hours preparing the park, setting up, cooking, cleaning, organizing, and doing whatever needs to be done. It is the businesses and sponsors who continue to support us year after year.
It is the community members who donate, volunteer their time, bring their families, attend the events, and continue traditions that have been passed down for generations. It is the people who come back home for the weekend, and the people who have never left.
This celebration has continued through the years because of a community that cares enough to keep it going.
And while the events, entertainment, and activities may change from year to year, one thing remains the same: Green Castle Labor Day would not be possible without the people behind it.
So, as we get ready to kick off another celebration, we simply want to say thank you.
Thank you to every volunteer.
Thank you to every business and sponsor.
Thank you to everyone who has donated their time, talents, resources, and support.
And thank you to everyone who continues to show up.
This celebration belongs to all of us.
Tomorrow, the park comes alive once again. Not because of one person, but because of an entire community.
And we can't wait to see you there.
