As a first responder in my community and schools. Here are some Back-to-School Safety Tips as we start today:

📚 BACK TO SCHOOL = BACK TO SAFETY! 🚸

🚌 School Bus Safety
• Slow down and stop when school buses are loading or unloading students.
• Stay alert in school zones and watch for children crossing the road.
• Remind children to stay seated and follow the bus driver’s directions.

🚗 Drop-Off & Pick-Up
• Follow your school’s designated traffic patterns.
• Avoid distractions while driving—put the phone down.
• Be patient. A few extra minutes can make a big difference.

🏫 School Safety
• Know your child’s school emergency procedures.
• Encourage students to report concerning behavior, threats, bullying, or anything that makes them feel unsafe.
• Remind children to never open exterior doors or allow strangers into the school.

👀 Parents & Students
• Know where your child is going and who they are with.
• Make sure emergency contact information is up to date.
• Talk with your child about recognizing unsafe situations and knowing who they can go to for help.

Most importantly, SPEAK UP, STAY ALERT, AND LOOK OUT FOR ONE ANOTHER.
