I had myself a little adventure on part of the Iowa Valley scenic by way today. I drove past Mildred Benson’s birthplace home and she was the Nancy Drew author. Her birthplace home is in Ladora Iowa. I never knew this until today. It’s a private home so you can’t go inside. I also checked out the Bohemian village & historic town jail in Clutier. Stop #36. The town feels like a ghost town. There’s many abandoned buildings which I personally love. I wish I could preserve them all. I wish somebody would. Anyway, I’ve already been to the Matchstick marvels Museum and the traer salt and pepper shaker gallery so I didn’t do that today. if you haven’t gone, you need to because they’re great little museums. I think my favorite part besides the bald eagle in my yard was all the butterflies dancing around me near the Koszta Cemetery. It was really magical, and the view from the cemetery was beautiful. You might find this interesting, Frank Lloyd Wright’s half sister is buried there. Her name is Elizabeth Heller. 💚🌽🦋 “ look for the bits of beauty in the everyday. That’s where the magic happens.”

Remember when big boy #4014 came through Iowa? You know the world‘s largest operating steam locomotive, well I ran into a mural artist working on a cool mural honoring that locomotive! They just started this project, but I can’t wait to see it when it’s done and if you want to see it, it is at Valley Junction. 🚂
