Over the weekend the Tennessee Association of Rescue Squads Rescue College team traveled to Pendleton South Carolina to teach a Farm Rescue class at Clemson University’s Piedmont Research Center.

There we had a phenomenal facility and amenities to work with the Clemson University Fire & EMS and other local first responders through the various complexities to performing rescues related to accidents involving farm equipment. With weather working in our favor, we were able to stay on schedule and accomplish everything we needed to.

We had a great time the other night assisting our friends over at Cookeville Police Department with their National Night Out event.

So here are some of the thoughts I walked away with afterwards.. So many families were there with their children and all were having a great time. The kids even got to win amazing door prizes such as bikes, tvs, and a wide variety of toys.

There were so many partnering businesses that were there providing free pizza, cookies, coffee, waters and soft drinks. Even an ice cones.

I left with an overwhelming sense of community coming together for a common goal of simply doing something that the whole family could enjoy. And providing an opportunity to meet your neighbors.

A big shout out to CPD officer Charlotte (and anyone else who helped) for organizing this event and reaching out to see if I’d love to be involved in it…. The answer will always be YES!
