Okay moms, I need your help. 😂🍿

On Friday I shared about our family's Pizza + Movie Night tradition. Well, we have officially watched SO many movies during our Friday night Pizza + Movie Nights that I'm running out of ideas.

What movies do your elementary-aged kids LOVE?

Give me the classics, the newer ones, the ones you watched growing up, and the ones your kids have watched approximately 47 times. 😂

Another trip around the sun. ☀️

Today I'm another year older and feeling especially grateful for the life I've been given—the people I get to love, the family I get to be with so much, and the work I get to do.

My business has brought so many wonderful people into my life, and I'm incredibly thankful that I get to spend my days documenting your families while raising my own.

This past year has been full of home renovation messes, many memories made, a bunch of new clients, and even some special awards that totally blew me away! It makes me so excited to see what this next one brings.

It's Friday, which means it's Pizza + Movie Night at our house. 🍕🎬

One of the things I value most in life is family and I really believe that having a close extended family doesn't just happen when kids are grown. It starts with the little things we do when they're young. The family dinners, the holidays, the traditions, the ordinary Friday nights spent together.

So...in our family, we made one of those traditions Pizza + Movie Night every Friday.🍕🎬

I'll be honest...it started partly because by Friday night we're exhausted and I absolutely do NOT want to cook another meal. 😂 But somewhere along the way, it became one of our favorite nights of the week.

Pizza. A movie. And everyone piled together...often in pajamas

Nothing fancy. Nothing particularly memorable in the moment. We're talking paper plates on a picnic blanket on the floor.

But I hope someday our girls look back and realize that those ordinary Friday nights were some of the things that made our family feel like home.

And that's what I love about extended family sessions like this one. They're not just about getting everyone together for a picture. They're about celebrating the relationships we're building and the people our kids are growing up surrounded by.

As your photographer I know that the little things matter.

Before this session, Mom mentioned that she really wanted to keep her bangs that she was growing out tucked away in her photos.

So I kept that in the back of my mind throughout their session—watching how her hair was falling, making small adjustments when needed, and being intentional about the angles I photographed her from.

And the couple of moments I missed? That’s what editing is for. 😉

It might seem like a tiny detail, but when you’re investing in family photos, I want you to feel like you look your best and that I was paying attention.

That’s one of the things I believe makes a great photography experience. You shouldn’t have to spend your session worrying about your hair, wondering if you look okay, or trying to figure out what to do next. That’s my job and I got you!

Your job is to show up, love on your people, and enjoy being together. I’ll take care of the rest. 🤍

And these photos are also a little preview of one of my favorite places to photograph families—Friedman Park in Newburgh. 🌿

Happy First Day of School! 📚✏️💛

And a very special happy LAST first day of school to the Class of 2027!🎉

This is the year of the lasts—the last first day, the last football season, the last homecoming, the last time they'll walk these halls as a student.

But before all those lasts come, there's still an entire year ahead of them. A year to make memories, laugh with friends, dream about what's next, and soak in this final chapter of high school.

And somehow, underneath the senior schedules and college plans, they're still the same kids you sent off for their very first day of kindergarten. Just a little taller, a little wiser, and ready for what's next.

Here's to a year they'll never forget. 🤍

I don't know who had more fun at this session—the kids or me. 😂💦

I've photographed this family many times over the years, and when they left this session, they asked if all of their pictures could be in a creek from here on out.

Honestly? I wouldn't be mad about it. 😂

But there's a reason these photos turned out the way they did.

I've learned that the best way to photograph children is to meet them where they are.

The quickest way to ruin a session is to expect kids to sit still, smile at the camera, and behave perfectly for the entire time. Not only are those expectations unrealistic, but they can actually squash the childhood right out of the photographs.

When we let them run, explore, get dirty, splash, laugh, and simply be kids, something better happens.

We don't just get a few smiling pictures...
we get THEM!

The boundless energy.
The big personalities.
The curiosity.
The silliness.
The way they naturally interact with the people they love.

And years from now, you'll have more than a picture of what they looked like. You'll have a little piece of who they actually were at this age.

That's what I want to freeze for you. 💛
