Burning Wave

Burning Wave was photographed during Episode 38 of the Kīlauea eruption. At this moment, the lava fountain surged horizontally rather than vertically, creating the appearance of a molten wave curling through the air.

Kilauea Eruption: Episode 15

I am still in disbelief as I scroll through my photos from Kilauea's recent eruption, Episode 15. This particular photo is a panoramic view of the crater floor. Since 2018, the crater has undergone many changes; it has collapsed and expanded significantly, with fountaining events occurring all across the floor. The recent eruption, Episode 15, showcased fountains that exceeded 1,000 feet! It was the most incredible day of photographing lava I have ever experienced.
