A beautiful day in the Keys is coming to an end. As the sun was sinking toward the horizon, it broke through the clouds and lit up the weathered Bahia Honda Bridge bathing it in golden light. 🌅

The Truth is Out There 🦉✨

Recently I have been binge-watching “The X Files”. You could say I am a little late to the show, 30+ years late, but her, better late than never... 👽😜

Precious Fawn 🥰😍

Last weekend we headed back down to the Keys hoping to see a Key deer fawn, after not seeing any on our previous attempts of spotting one. We saw plenty of adult Key deer then which made it all worthwhile though, because they are just the cutest. ❤

We were just coming up to the area where we had seen a few deer on our first drive through two weeks earlier when we saw an adult crossing the road and a little one following right behind...

It only happens once in a blue moon that there are two full moons in a month, the second one being called a "blue moon". It will be rising tonight, but guess what?! The weather forecast predicts 91% cloud cover for the evening. So there goes that... probably.

So here's a shot of May's first full moon, the flower moon, as it was rising on a clear evening. 🌸🌕

It was a beautiful and tranquil morning in the Everglades. The sun appeared to be in no hurry as it slowly rose above clouds hidden behind the treeline, gently spilling gold across the still lake.

The morning skies have been pretty amazing lately. Of course I was nowhere scenic to capture them. Let's hope they stick around for the weekend and the seaweed situation has somewhat improved. It was pretty bad last weekend. Never have I seen so much seaweed, carpets of seaweed, along the shore and in the water. At least it was still pretty fresh when I was there, so walking through it wasn't too bad.

Key deer everywhere... ❤

We spent another day looking for key deer, because they are just so cute... and curious. It just amazes how curious. I can be standing there and minding my own business, like when my camera acted up and I was trying to figure out what was going on. Then looking up a deer is right there, looking over my lens and camera, like it was also trying to figure out what's going on.

It had been raining overnight and a quick look at the radar showed isolated rain, but we figured we still give it a try with sunrise.

Just as we got to the end of the parking lot, which is where the pier is, it started coming down. A little ways south of the pier, where I decided to park, it wasn't raining. So I jokingly said, as long as we stay to the south of the pier we should be good.

I shouldn't have said that, because as soon as I said it it started drizzling and then pouring. So we sat in the car listening to the heavy drops hitting the top, eventually the rain eased off and then stopped. And for the rest of the morning we did not get rained on despite there being more rain in the forecast.

Saturday on our way to the Keys we stopped off in the Everglades for sunrise. The lake was perfectly still when we arrived with a few clouds at the horizon. Water levels are still very low with rocks showing in places. Most of the season these are under water. So every time water is down I go looking for them.

It's been almost a month since the last full moon and I wanted to share one more shot from our outing to Hillsboro Inlet to capture the moon rising next to the lighthouse. The next full moon, a rare "blue moon", as it's the second full moon in May, will be next weekend. Hopefully it'll be clear enough to see it.
