It’s been a while since I’ve shown my face on here so I thought I’d remind you who I am! My name is Marixa and I’ve been a photographer for over 10 years!
Although I photograph different genres, bo***ir is one of my passions because it fills my heart to help you see your own beauty, mostly because I know what it feels like to feel unseen, self conscious and sometimes even angry I was born a woman.
Growing up in the 90’s and 2000’s, you know our parents didn’t implement a lot of emotional intelligence or were very aware of how to improve children’s self esfeem—and I get it, it was a different time—but it certainly left a lot of us feeling disconnected or feeling like we are not enough! Additionally, I grew up in a Mexican family and although we have plenty of beautiful traditions, it’s also a culture that can implement a lot of machismo and shame in being born a girl. I am happy to say a lot of those ideas are changing with new generations and girls are also seen as a gift to the family! All that to say a little bit of where my insecurities have stemmed from in different stages of my life.
Today, I continue to learn about myself and what it means for me to be a woman. I also feel overwhelmed and leave myself for last, as many of us do! So, I have found bo***ir to be healing for you and for me! Bo***ir has been finding that space to celebrate being a female, connecting with our femininity —because who else works, takes care of the children, parents, and volunteers in the community like we do? Yeah! I also lose that connection with my femininity due to a busy and demanding lifestyle, but through bo***ir we can make that space to reconnect with our sense of beauty, of creation, of art, or fun, because my goodness do we need some fun these days!
So that’s a little bit about me and why I like to photograph women in their most vulnerable state—I am here for you for when you are ready to do this for yourself.
Talk to you soon!.- Marixa
