Most political arguments aren't actually about facts. They're about scale.
One person is looking at a national dataset. Another is looking at what happened to a neighbor, friend, or local community. Both perspectives can provide valuable information, but they answer different questions.
Understanding whether we're discussing individual experiences, local trends, or national outcomes can completely change how we interpret the same number.

It's: Big compared to what?
