Skillz Art Skillz Art specials in creating art that touches your soul. We are artists who have gone through some hard times which shows through in our art.

Skilz Art is the creation of Brian Grabow and Marshall Hankamer, two inmates who are serving time in the TDCJ in Texas. Brain became good friends with Dr. David K. Patterson and began sending him art work that he was creating with pen and ink. David encouraged Brian to pursue his dream to become a successful artist. Brian and Marshall both began as tattoo artists before getting caught up by making

some poor choices and ending up in prison for their crimes. They have turned their lives around while in prison drawing art based upon tattoo themes and to express the hard times that they have gone through. Skills Art was born as a way to show off their art and pursue other interests together as friends. David and later Nicole Lynn Hutchins who has known Brian for years, became involved with Skillz Art and together they all are taking it all to the next level. Stay tuned for those results.

Background on Skillz Art and the Artists

Brian and Marshall want me to share the following with you'll about the founding of Skillz Art

Skillz Art (aka Skillz 23) is the mastermind of two tattoo artists - Brian Grabow and Marshall Hankamer. They crossed paths while on the outside of the razorwire, better known as TDCJ. The two artist became acquaintances and then friends while doing time in Texas. They both share the same love of the tattoo game and great art. Given that tattooing is illegal in Texas prisons, they had to find a safer way of expressing themselves. They began putting art down on paper and illustration board with pen and pencil, the same way they did with the tattoo gun.

So Skillz Art was born. All the artwork that you see displayed here on this page is a collection of work created by the two artists. They are using art to let their imaginations wander, Kinda escaping from their current situation so to speak. Basically Skillz Art begins with freedom, touches other people souls, and allows them to do it legally.

Even though they are currently locked up, the artwork will reach beyond their current limitations. Both artists are due to be released with in the next few years. Skillz 23 will continue to represent all aspiring artists behind the razorwall, staying dedicated through all the struggles. They hope to inspire and encourage art no matter what the circumstances. Art is their reflection of expressions from their hearts and souls. Blessings to all.
