I tried something different behind the camera this week.
I went to my nephew’s Hempstead FFA Ag Show and decided to challenge myself a little. No flash. Just motion, natural light, and whatever the moment gave me.
Honestly, I put my camera in settings I normally avoid. The kind where you’re not totally sure how it’s going to turn out. Livestock shows move fast, the lighting isn’t always your friend, and there’s not much time to think.
But sometimes that’s exactly where the magic happens.
You trust your instincts. You press the shutter. You learn something.
And when I got home and started looking through the photos… I was honestly pretty proud of what came out of it.
These are the kinds of moments that remind me why I love photography. It’s not just about getting the shot. It’s about pushing yourself a little further than you did last time.
Here are a few of my favorites from the show. 📸
