I tend to love the ordinary things in life being drawn to roadside plants and backyards, countrysides, streets and village scenes and even parking lots for many of my images. Color, light, texture and lines are more my photographic subjects than the objects or contents themselve
s. I love the instant when what I see becomes an image. The image is there, in my minds eye, before the camera snaps. It is a special and particular moment of perception. I prefer taking my images from places and things as they are rather than staging them or pre-composing them as one would do in a traditional still life. This allows me a constant adventure in aligning with the resonance of the visual moment. I see it as opportunity to be open enough to experience the moment freely, without filtering for outcome. I do enjoy the developing and post-processing aspect of photography. The Darkroom, now Lightroom, adds to and reveals my artistic expression at that end of the photographic process into what I call "creative interpretations" of my own real life/real time photographs. This interest allows me to explore the possibilities of the photographic medium in a broader sense, in the various broader strokes, so to speak, aligning to what the current state of photography has to offer. I am a composer, photographer, innovative pianist, educator, workshop leader, improvisation teacher and facilitator, performance and multimedia artist. Photography is not a separate entity for me but rather an integrated part of this creative whole. So, you will find me blending combination of Music and Photography, Sight and Sound, Written and Spoken, Still and Motion, Live and Recorded, Acoustic and Electronic, and whatever else might find its way into my likings and meanderings.
