It was an honor to help the Morris’ welcome their second born into the world. Welcome, sweet Parker. My goal during sessions is to capture moments, not just still poses. It’s my job to place you and your family in flattering light and positions, to point out where something needs adjustments. But I like to take it a step further and get natural, real reactions out of my clients, to help you be able to feel something in these photos that remind you of what you felt in that moment it was taken.

Reason number 5 why I love sessions with toddlers: they almost always have a plan of their own on what we do during a session! And you just have go with it, their personalities, their energy, and still get beautiful family photos.

From my time with the White’s.

I’m often asked during newborn sessions if I’ve ever had a newborn that cried the entire time. I’ve photographed hundreds of newborn sessions, and not once has a baby cried the entire time. Sometimes babies fight sleep, like Rowan here did for some time, but most often we end up getting them to sleep eventually. And as the photographer, I’ve learned when to photograph what times of shots to adjust to baby’s sleep needs (or plans), so we don’t end up wasting time in the process.

The photos you’ll never stop looking at: images showing your one year old learning to walk, your baby holding your hand for support, the funny face they used to make, how much they used to love when you’d swing them in the air. One day, you’ll be so grateful that you have these. The smooshed cheek kiss in the last photo is personally one of my favorites!

When I arrive at your home for a newborn session, typically I’ve already done a lot of the planning ahead of time. I almost likely know what room we’ll be in, where the best light is likely going to be, and a general idea of the types of photos we’re going to get. The light in this nursery was perfection, along with mom’s styling of it. The details in this room are everything!

Sessions with the Cooley’s are especially sweet to me because I have my own daughter that is this sweet girls’ age. It’s so fun to interact and play with her during the session in ways similar to how I interact with Marie! 18-24 months is such a fun age of exploring and games!
