Their dog wasn't in the timeline. He just wanted in on it, pawing at the groom's knee until the whole thing turned to laughing. You can't plan that. You can only be there when it happens and let it be what it is. That's the job. Stay close, stay quiet, catch the day as it actually goes.

She laughed before anyone asked her to. Just looked at him against the brick and lost it. That's what Super 8 holds better than anything: the grain, the warmth, the moment nobody set up. You're not scared of spending money on a wedding video. You're scared of looking back in ten years and not feeling the day.

Most video gets you performing your wedding. Slow down, walk it again, one more time. I do the opposite. I stay present, and let the day happen. Then I pair clean digital with authentic super 8mm film, the nostalgic kind that feels like a memory.
