Great Sand Dunes

I've been going back through old images and seeing what a new crop might do on them. I've been fascinated with the 65:24 crop (X-Pan) aspect for a while now. There's something very pleasing about that ratio.

I went back to images all the way from 2011 or so to see what's been overlooked. It turns out quite a few images from the Four Corners region work really well here. I think this is working well because there's so much sky and such vast distances out there that the sky can overwhelm an image. Ditto that on too much excessive foreground.

This is the Great Sand Dunes National Park. I think I shot this one in 2018. The color contrast was super pleasing on this as well as the way the mountains and the dune mirror each other within the composition.
