Kitterman/Buckey Farm Johnsville Maryland
Established in 1752 by German Immigrant Christopher Kitterman, who developed and owned it for over 40 Years.

The Root and Buckey Era(1794-1919): In 1794 Kitterman sold the land to Daniel Root, another early settler of German Descent.

The property remained within the Root family for generations.

It eventually transitioned to the Buckey Family when a Root daughter married into the Buckey line.

The combined families retained continuous ownership for 125 years until it was sold in 1919.

The site still maintains its original domestic yard arrangements, alongside defining historic boundaries like old fence lines,pastures, a woodlot, an orchard.

it originally had a fieldstone springhouse (C. 1752), a log cabin smokehouse (C.1752), a bank barn (C.1850) , a wagon shed,a silo, and a horse stable.

Though parts of the agricultural outbuildings have deteriorated over time, the farm remains a crucial regional example of how small, early American Farmsteads evolved from the colonial era through the 20th century.
