Been a minute since I could shoot hoops here because of the floor updates, but it was worth the wait.

Life is full of twists and turns, but I’m learning to understand where my work comes from.

I’ve been a stay-at-home dad and working from home for over a decade now. It’s something I’ve always wanted to do—to be able to watch my kids grow and be there for them when they need me.

But I’ve found myself doing more for my kids than I do for myself at times. In the process, I’ve also felt like I lost a piece of myself. Everything I do is to teach and guide my kids, but not having that human connection with others while working from home changes you. You start to lose that person who was once inside.

So I decided to try the thing I’ve always wanted to do since high school: join a boxing gym. I’ve been taking classes for about two weeks now, and I’ve found that thing I was missing. I feel like I’ve found myself again.

So I want to give a big thank you to JJ's Boxing & Wrestling LLC for helping me find that missing piece.

As a dad — I want my boys to know that there isn’t a mountain that they can’t climb or fly above. As long as they keep flapping their wings and keep flying higher than that horizon.

I’ve been thinking about creating a short film about how art started for me and the meaning behind the work I create.

I was supposed to give an artist talk, but my son’s band concert was scheduled for the same time, and I want to be there for him. I decided this was the perfect opportunity to make this film so I could be there for both.

This film is about how I began painting, my relationship with my grandad, and the experience of loss.

I hope my story offers encouragement and reminds you that our loved ones are always with us, whether we see it or not.
