My Hudson Catholic classmate received the honors of being the 2026 Italian Man of the Year for the Jersey City Columbus Day Parade.

Nick was born and raised in Jersey City’s Marion Section to Italian immigrant parents.

September 11, 2001 was a long time ago but we still remember the day.

2026 GARDEN SUMMARY

Tomatoes, Kale, Swiss Chard, Cucumbers were the winning crew, eggplant and bitter melon ( ampalaya) did not even bother to come out this year…. Fail.

I learned about companion planting, saw the benefits of adding coffee grounds to plants and now have an understanding of composting.

So much more to learn but appreciate the progress made this past summer.

Thank you to all who helped my thumb get more green through their feedback and advice.

I BOUGHT A LADDER AND FOR SOME REASON I FEEL USEFUL....

I’m a new man, a motivated man.

I'm moving forward and plan to work on things that simply need to get done. Some call it a "honey do" list, perhaps a chore or maybe an item on a laundry list.......either way, I am focused on the small details. I’m pumped.

Change the batteries in the fire alarm, Switch out inoperable lightbulbs and finally put away the Tupperware that was supposed to be placed in the hard to reach area over the refrigerator. I’ll even remove the lint from dryer.

With that frame of mind, I bought my very own ladder. For the first time, I feel like I have a control of my ability to get things done in my wheelhouse because of this ladder. Now I am ready.

Hmmmmmm. Sigh. The thought of extra chores is daunting.....but today, I feel useful. ( Please cue the music from Chariots of Fire or Rocky)

Now let me off my arse, stop with the Facebooking and get the ladder out of the car...... 😉

In other news, I just found the mint chocolate chip ice cream in the back of the freezer.....let me take a break first and then I'll change the lightbulbs.
