🔵"Dilation station" a.k.a. the "GET IT DONE position." 💪🏽🔵

Most of my clients know that I love using the toilet for labor. It's the best way to release a pelvic floor and help a baby descend into the pelvis. The contractions are super intense on the potty, but that's because they are super productive! Trust me when I tell you, this is one of the all time best labor positions!

🚽you are naturally prone to relaxing your pelvic floor and perineum while sitting on the toilet.
🚽the bathroom is a place of privacy and solitude and you are used to relaxing in this room.
🚽you are using gravity
🚽you are opening your pelvis.
🚽you are allowing your baby lots of room to rotate and navigate the birth canal.
🚽you can also turn around and straddle the toilet with a pillow in front of you for comfort.

I call it the “dilation station” for a reason. I’ve encouraged many mommies to spend some time laboring on the toilet. It’s not uncommon for baby to come rather quickly after that 🤗

Amazing visual 😍😍

When I think about breastfeeding, I think about my baby’s little face looking up at me. The cuddles. The way they relax into my breast. The bonding. The closeness.

I don’t usually sit there thinking about the science of it all.

But sometimes it hits me… my breasts literally make milk😳 Like literally make MILK !!

When my baby latches, nerves in my ni**le send a message to my brain. My brain releases prolactin to make milk and oxytocin to let it flow. A tiny human suckles… and my body responds. In real time.

My brain and my breasts are in constant communication. My baby cries, and sometimes I can feel it before they even touch me.

It’s not just sweet. It’s not just emotional.

It’s biological. It’s intelligent. It’s my body adapting, responding, producing exactly what my baby needs.

I’m not just holding my baby.
I’m feeding them with something my body created.

And that will never stop amazing me ❤️

Do NOT cut my baby's cord! Leave their life source INTACT until it is done doing its job. Even if that means many, many minutes.

"NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) guidelines and recent evidence-based practices strongly recommend delaying umbilical cord clamping, even for newborns requiring resuscitation, to allow for continued oxygenation and placental transfusion. This "intact cord resuscitation" (also known as bedside resuscitation) is feasible, safe, and improves Apgar scores by allowing breathing initiation (initial steps, stimulation, PPV) while the baby remains attached to the placenta."
