21 family members. Several countries. One very special 80th birthday. 🤍

This family traveled from around the world to come together and celebrate an incredible milestone — 80 years of life.

With everyone gathered at , we had the opportunity to capture generations of this family together in one place — grandparents, children, grandchildren, and all the relationships in between.

These are the kinds of sessions I was always so honored to photograph during my years in Hawaii. Families would travel from all over, gather together for a once-in-a-lifetime trip, and ask me to document this small window of time when everyone was finally in the same place.

And now, getting to capture these same kinds of meaningful family gatherings here in Fort Worth, Texas feels incredibly special. 🤍

Because years from now, this won’t just be a photograph of 21 people.

It will be the photograph from the weekend everyone traveled across countries, came together under one roof, and celebrated 80 years of life, family, and legacy.

What an honor to preserve it. 🤍

When it’s 100° outside… we pivot. ☀️📸

This session was planned as an outdoor extended family session, but Texas had other plans. With 21 family members gathered together to celebrate an 80th birthday — some traveling from other countries to be there — rescheduling wasn’t exactly an option.

Thankfully, this family was incredibly flexible, and we were able to utilize a beautiful indoor area at their vacation rental, to start their session in the air conditioning before heading outside for the full family portraits.

And this is something worth considering when hiring your photographer.

Beautiful natural light is wonderful, but sometimes the weather, the location, or the circumstances require a completely different approach. Being able to pivot from photographing outdoors to creating and shaping light indoors with professional flash and lighting equipment means we can still create beautiful images when conditions aren't exactly what we planned.

Especially when you have 21 people who traveled from around the world — we’re making it work. 🤍

And honestly? I love that they now have both indoor and outdoor images to tell the story of this very special family gathering.
