Mary Mason Photography Where photography and life meet, and memories last forever. Over time, my passion for photography, photo editing, and perfecting shots grew.
(203)

Mary Mason Photography is a dream born behind 110 film cameras at the young age of 6, and grew with me through life. I asked for a 35 mm single lens reflex camera on my 16th birthday, which unfortunately my parents couldn't afford. I met a lifestyle photographer here in TN and she inspired me to shoot for the stars through her own achievements. I bought a DSLR camera in February of 2010, and after 18 months of learning the trade, practicing, googling and YouTubing everything under the sun regarding photography, and studying other photographers, I finally allowed myself the title of professional photographer. This business has born my blood, sweat, tears, and so much more. I named it after my grandmother, who passed away when my mom was only seven. She hated having her photo made, so now my passion is very precious memories captured at an affordable price. I treasure every experience this business affords me, the clients I meet, and I pray you all continue to join me on this journey as I continue to learn, grow, and be the best I can possibly be!

Today, August 26, 2026, Sevier County recognizes a day of mourning for our local icon, Dolly Parton. In honor of this day, I want to pause and share some of my favorite Dolly quotes. Dolly gave so much back to the world and the community through charitable giving, the Imagination Library, and so much more. She was, and will always be, a force to be reckoned with. But, alongside honoring Dolly, I feel it is important to honor SSG Ryan C Knauss, and his 12 fellow service men and women, who died in combat in Kabul, Afghanistan on this day in 2021. The first image is in honor of SSG Knauss and the 12 other brave men and women. In order to be brave, you must first try. So, as we mourn Dolly, let us not forget those faceless men and women who die every day fighting for our freedom. Dolly loved America and was a true patriot and I think she would agree with me, if she could. What is your favorite Dolly quote?

As many know, Dolly Parton has died today August 25, 2026 at the age of 80. I have found it an honor to live in a town she called home. Her generous giving, her love for literacy, and her rag to riches iconic story will live on for generations to come. This is one of the pictures I took that has been converted to black and white and is hanging in our Sevierville Chicken Salad Chick. Rest in peace, Dolly. We will always love you. 🦋🦋🦋🦋

Here is an updated list of where I am at in my editing queue. Also, an update on my daughter, Alexus, for those who have been following her story.

Tuesday, August 18, 2026 we had an appointment with Dr. Vu through Vanderbilt. After reviewing the MRIs and the binder of medical records I brought with us, Dr. Vu dropped a bit of a brick on us. Alexus does NOT have multiple sclerosis. She DOES have Paroxsymal Dysarthria Ataxia Syndrome, brought on by a central nervous system demyelinating condition, but they do not know what this condition is. The lesions, especially the mid-brain/PONS lesion is atypical of MS. So, we were admitted to Vanderbilt on Tuesday for further testing.

What we know - we know it is autoimmune. We know it is steroid dependent because every time she weans down off high doses of prednisone, symptoms return. We know the Trileptal works for the PDA Syndrome. Also, there is a 4th lesion that hasn't been mentioned.

What we don't know - we don't know if this is rheumatological. We don't know what it is exactly. We don't know if this is cancer, but they are pretty certain it isn't because the inflammation does improve and then comes right back during and after steroids, which isn't typical of cancer. Cancer is a very minute possibility, but not something they are looking at in the forefront.

She is being tested for Behcet's Disease, Sarcoidosis, Vasculitis, among a some other things.

Before anyone asks - yes, she was tested for Lyme Disease. It is not that. It is not Chiari Malformation because that would have shown up on her scans.

Currently, her IgG is very low, so they have to run further tests on that before they can do next steps which is immunotherapy through a medicine called Rituximab (sp?). After that, I am not sure of next steps.

In the meantime, I just want to thank everyone for their patience with me as I get my editing caught up! It has been a bit chaotic this summer, and I really do thank you so much for being patient and gracious amidst the chaos.

If you are too far for your comfort down the editing list, you are welcome to pay a reduced rush fee dependent on where your session falls. Please message me to address that!

Hello! We are home from the hospital. The doctors put my daughter on a medicine that has essentially stopped the seizure-like episodes, and we will head to Vanderbilt on Monday for her early morning appointment on Tuesday. She is at her dad's this weekend, so I am able to lock in on editing, shooting, and hopefully, working job #2 a little if I can make a good dent in my editing. I really do appreciate everyone's patience as I work to get this done! I am so incredibly thankful for the way everyone has shown up for us in extending grace, offering prayers and well-wishes! Also, be on the lookout this weekend for a fall and Christmas mini drop!

Please refer to the list to see where you fall for editing purposes! I am working hard on getting these images out to everyone. I figured it would help to have a visual to know where you fall on the list. I am getting about 7 files out a week as long as interruptions are limited and files do not require extensive removals. Some files are requiring removal of items in the background, along with other tweaks. Each file is being given the care and concern it deserves! Thank you so much for your patience as I chomp through these while hanging out by my daughter's bedside! You guys are the REAL MVPs!!!! Love you all! You mean so much to me!!!!

Update on my daughter, Alexus:

She had an urgent brain/spine MRI on Saturday due to the episodes of freezing/tremors/slurred speech she's been having. The MRI showed her mid-brain lesion is in active demyelination. They feel these episodes are related to that lesion. So, they have admitted her for about two weeks for plasmapheresis - what's known as plasma exchange. This procedure involves a vascular catheter being placed in her neck under anesthesia. Every other day, they will take her blood, run it through a machine, separate it from the plasma, discard the old plasma and replace the plasma with some type of donor plasma. They are trying to dump her body of the bad antibodies that are attacking her myelin sheath on her nerves. It is an extended hospital stay, but I am still editing and I am able to do photo sessions on days she does not have the exchange. I will be posting fall and Christmas mini booking links this week. I am just waiting on one date to be confirmed for those. The last month and a half has been a very rough journey so I am very, very, very thankful for everyone's patience, love, and prayers.
