The cutest duo 🥰 I’ve so enjoyed my studio families this winter. It’s been such a treat to relax into the space — I feel like I’ve given myself permission to slow down in my sessions and be a little more intentional with my creativity. A gift to myself I didn’t realize would be so impactful, honestly. Thanks to all my sweet families who joined me in the studio this year 🤍.

I’m debating on opening the studio this week for a few motherhood sessions since it’s spring break and the kiddos are out of school! If you think you might be interested, I’d love to hear from you 🤍

No stage of motherhood is forever—and that is both a relief and a heartbreak. I know it’s hard to put yourself in front of the camera with your babies. Our camera rolls are filled with our kids sweet faces and activities, but where are we? An occasional selfie, snapped with an arm extended; the rare cell phone picture taken by a partner or friend.

Motherhood portraits in the studio were dreamt up with all of this in mind. A gift of presence in this exact moment in time. A way to capture the details of your sweet babies. Toothless smiles, the way they giggle in your direction, their little hands and full cheeks. All of that, with YOU by their side.

There’s something really empowering about stepping in front of the camera for yourself. I got it in my head last night that I needed to shoot a few self-portraits, so I got to work and stepped in front of the camera at about 10 PM with this little self-made studio in my living room (where are my fellow night owls at???). Made me a little nostalgic for the pre-studio days. I ended up shooting something a little moody and a lot different from what I usually do. It felt like stepping into a more powerful, sophisticated version of myself—almost like a love letter to my own confidence. ❤️🖤

I guess I consider these to be Valentine’s-adjacent, a little nod to self-love. Red is the color I picked for myself because I’ve always felt good in red. What would you choose? The color that makes you feel strong and seen?

“Yep, this is what I do for work.”

As I welcome 2026 and consider all that the past year has done for me, I can’t help but look back and think how surreal it still is to be able to say that. This journey started as a dream and a huge leap of faith in 2023 and has since turned into a reality I’m grateful to live in every day.

Truly, how cool is it that I get to call this my “work”? Building this business that is entirely my own, built brick by brick. To all of you who’ve made this possible, my dear clients, friends, family, and other creatives, my gratitude for you is endless. You’ve made it possible for me to say, “Yep, this is what pays the bills, and I couldn’t be happier doing it.”

Last year alone I photographed over 250 homes (!!!!!!), welcomed over 65 clients to Studio Slate, welcomed other creatives into the studio, and prepared to launch the rebrand of my real estate line of business (more on that soon—I promise). Each of these milestones is a reminder of how far I’ve come in the past few years, and how much is possible when you take that leap of faith.

Here’s to more of all the good stuff in 2026–humanity, creativity, balance, motherhood, great clients, super cool homes, and more leaps of faith in the year ahead.

Cheers 2025, it’s been real.
