at first experience of developing film, sparked in a local photography course, opened my eyes to the endless possibilities of photography. Accompanying me on this journey is my wife, Ambreen, my joy and my driving force. Together, we have traveled extensively, sharing the wonders of each destination. Ambreen is the steadfast companion who ensures everything runs smoothly on our trips. From early sunrise shots to late sunsets, she is by my side, experiencing and contributing to the magic that unfolds. Her presence enriches my work, bringing a deeper sense of connection and purpose to each expedition. Throughout this journey, I've also had the privilege of meeting incredible photographers – now close friends – who have shown me that photography is as much about the individual behind the lens as it is about the subject. It's fascinating to see how two photographers can look at the same scene and capture it in entirely different ways. This uniqueness is what I strive to bring to my work. My high-end fine art photography prints are for sale on my website, and I would like to invite you to purchase them at www.jto-photography.com.

Celebrating light, landscapes, and a little Nordic pride

With Italy hosting the Winter Olympics and several events taking place in the Dolomites, it felt right to share a few moments from this incredible mountain region. And with Norway bringing home two gold medals today, my heart is definitely beating a little extra — even after all these years living in the U.S.

Not for perfection.
Not for trends.
Simply for the love of light, mountains, and being out there.

Rome, before it wakes.

These images were captured in the quiet hours—when the streets are empty, the air is cool, and the city feels like it’s holding its breath. No crowds, almost no cars. Just stone, light, and centuries of history slowly revealing themselves.

As I prepare to return this May, revisiting these moments reminds me why I love photographing cities at their most honest—early, silent, and timeless.

There’s something special about Rome when you’re alone with it.

This view only works when everything slows down.

No movement. No noise. Just the coastline, the village, and the last light settling into place.

By the time blue hour arrives, the scene has already decided what it wants to be.

Paris doesn’t reveal everything in one moment.

Some scenes arrive before the city wakes. Others unfold as the day lets go.

The Louvre catching its last light, Notre-Dame standing firm before sunrise, and the pyramid glowing as night settles in.

Different hours. Same city. Always something new to read in the light.

Florence isn’t only about what you see —
it’s about how you arrive there.

From the city’s most familiar silhouette,
through quiet frames and passing moments,
into spaces where history lowers its voice.

Three views. One city.
Seen slowly.

I don’t chase perfect conditions in the Dolomites.
I wait for the moments when the mountains decide to show character.

Light breaking through clouds. Slopes still holding the night.
Nothing dramatic — just enough to make you stop and stay.
