When Alexandra came to my house with her truck bed full of flowers she had left over from an event my brain immediately went blank because there was SO MUCH POTENTIAL. When I had asked if she could do an installation on this wooden chair in the garden and she proceeded to do so— I was absolutely mesmerized watching her do her magic; the finished piece still amazes me.
We had talked about how the chair with just a bouquet sitting in the middle almost felt like an ode to grief and loss— it had been a whole month since losing one of my closest friends to stage 4 breast cancer and when Alexandra and I finished her branding session she had gifted me one of the bouquets she had designed. Later that evening I was admiring the flowers, thinking of how much my friend would’ve adored each and every one. Flowers hold such significance in my heart, especially with my friend. Getting to work with Alexandra during such a heavy period of grief for me was such a powerful privilege, surrounded by all of these gorgeous flowers that reminded me of how fleeting beauty and life truly is; a reminder to appreciate as much as we can in the present moment before it is only a memory.
