✨ Family Friday ✨
One thing I don't talk about enough around here is that while I photograph a lot of couples and weddings, families are a huge part of what I do too and I love them so much!!
So I'm introducing Family Friday.
My goal is to share more family-related content on Fridays when I can! That might be recent sessions, planning tips, behind-the-scenes moments, location ideas, or resources to help you create meaningful photos with the people you love most.
To kick things off, here's a simple way to build your own in-home documentary session with me. People get scared of In Home Documentary and shy away from it, but it's actually very simple and here's a look behind the scenes at how we will work on building your In Home Documentary session!
☁️ Step 1: Pick something chill.
Read books together
Make pancakes on a Saturday morning
Color or do puzzles at the kitchen table
Snuggle up on the couch and chat
🎉 Step 2: Pick something fun or messy.
Bake cookies
Have a dance party in the living room
Build a blanket fort
Play outside with water balloons or the sprinkler
❤️ Step 3: Pick a family favorite.
Visit the grandparents
Tend the family garden
Take an evening walk around the neighborhood
Play the board game everyone always chooses
✨ Step 4: Be present and enjoy!
Slow down and be present. Let the kids lead! Don't worry about the mess, not one bit! Focus on each other instead of the camera
That's really it.
The best family photos usually aren't created by trying to perform for the camera. They're created when you're doing the things your family already loves to do together.
The magic isn't in the activity. It's in the PEOPLE you're doing it with.
And if you're wondering whether your home is too messy, your kids are too wild, or your life is too ordinary for a documentary session, I promise those are often the very things you want to remember!
Ok, so I gotta know, how would YOU build your session based on the steps above?
