We were there and we have pictures! Do you remember when you could drive city edge to city edge in 10 minutes?

Or when you could only get to Lake Mead through Henderson? How about going to see greats like Monk Montgomery and Red Norvo at the Tropicana for the price of a drink? I remember because I was born here a looooooong time ago. Then In 1969 I met a photographer who came here from the mid-west to find fame and fortune as a glamour shooter, Robert Scott Hooper. We've been together ever since, partners

in crime, traveling and producing photos and video around the world, but keeping Las Vegas as our home because where else can you get breakfast and a bloody Mary at 3 in the morning? You can visit our website VegasRetro.com to see the Vegas stars and starlets of the 60s, 70's & 80's, or go to RScottHooper.com to see his advertising and Pl***oy work, but here is where the "behind the scenes" stuff will be. The great people that were part of the making of Hooper's photos and what silly fun we had. There were no digital phones then recording every event like we do today. The best we could do was shoot a few Polaroids, which were big bulky cameras and big expensive boxes of film, the Instagrams of the day. I'm glad we saved them. Today's technology sharing old moments. We'd love to hear from you and see some of your memories of "old Vegas".

Las Vegas Fun, at the Halloween Hop 1971

The original Halloween Hop in Las Vegas started at the Stardust Hotel on October 30, 1971. The first Hop had a costume contest that the show kids went all out on, along with the beginning of the Entertainment Awards. The award show broke away in 1973 and became it's own event and the crazy, wild costume party went on to other venues, still going on somewhere today. As usual Robert Scott Hooper was there, so we have pictures. Unfortunately, we no longer remember everyone's face and could use your help to identify some of them...costumes & all. Please share and let's see if we can put names on these faces.

One of Hooper's unique multiple exposures of the great Bobby Darin photographed during his Vegas show in 1967. There was no Photoshop in those days so this was done in the camera on one piece of film. He was such a fan that Darin's was the only Vegas show he ever paid for out of his own pocket!

The Silver Slipper show 1972. Marilyn Robertson did one of the greatest stripteases ever! She came out dressed as an old bag lady, even down to the full bra with b***s pointing to her knees. When she finally took it all off it was like a gift to see her beautiful, young, svelte body. An original in comedy burlesque.

The Queen of Rock & Roll has left the building😩. But, before she did, Tina Turner shared her incredible music and her fearless soul with us. There will never be another like her!
