I always to be a surgeon. A reconstructive plastic surgeon to be exact. Because science is awesome! I never imagined I’d be a photographer. I’ve always believed that every family needs a doctor, a lawyer, a mechanic
and a photographer. My grandpa was the one with the nice camera, and he always snapped photos at family get-togethers, so the position was filled. I was determined to be the doctor. My photography journey began my freshman year of High School. The main office messed up my schedule by putting me in a PE class. However, I took PE over summer school so that I wouldn’t have to take it during the school year and could instead, take a different elective. When we went to correct the mistake, the only class with availability was Yearbook Staff. However, I hadn’t met the journalism pre-requisite for the class. They put me in anyway. I got to spend an hour, every day at school, pulling friends out of class and taking their pictures! I shot football games, soccer games, track meets, and pep-rallies. I taught myself Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom, Indesign and Illustrator, and the beauty of creating a digital “page spread!” I was hooked. For graduation, I bought my first camera, a Canon Rebel Xti, put it on Automatic mode {facepalm}, and shot a few weddings for fun to possibly help pay for Medical School (or cruises to the caribbean). As much as I LOVE science, Chemistry is a language I just don’t speak, and it was 65% of my Pre-Med major. After failing Organic Chemistry twice, I decided I needed a new career path…
I’ve always been a creative, but didn’t know that there were actual careers that involved creating websites, brochures, posters, planning events, public speaking, and all of the fun things I like to do; until I moved to San Diego. I started working in Advertising & Marketing, and love it! However, something inside me kept telling me I needed to shoot. I needed to create.

So here I am. With a lot of encouragement from my husband, I’m putting myself out there, and doing what I love!
