UNLV’s Office of Government and Community Engagement () and School of Public Health () partnered with Three Square Food Bank () to distribute food to 1,000 families in need outside the Thomas & Mack Center.
In Nevada, nearly 500,000 people receive food stamps, according to the Nevada Division of Social Services, with 40% of those being children. As the government shutdown continues, and recipients of the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) are unable to receive their usual benefits, UNLV stepped in to fill the gaps for Nevadans.
Anyone interested in getting involved with Three Square Food Bank can access them through their website or through its various pantry partners, such as the UNLV Food Pantry (.foodpantry) which helps food insecure students, faculty, and staff.
