A professional headshot and branding images both matter.
They just serve different purposes.
Branding images help tell the bigger story of who you are, what you do, how you serve, and what people can expect when they work with you, learn from you, or invite you into a room.
A professional headshot has a more specific job.
It gives people a clear, polished, current image of you when they need to recognize you, trust you, introduce you, feature you, or connect with you quickly.
For coaches, ministers, speakers, authors, entrepreneurs, and leaders, that matters.
So much of our first impression now happens online. Before someone hears your message, visits your website, books your service, invites you to speak, or follows your work, they often see your image first.
That image should reflect the level of excellence, confidence, warmth, and credibility you bring to your assignment.
I recently had the opportunity to photograph Christopher C. Hampton, also known as CHAMPIAM, a speaker, author, leadership expert, and founder of The CHAMPIAM Organization.
His work carries a message of leadership, ministry, teaching, and transformation, and his headshot needed to support that presence.
That is why I believe professional headshots are not optional for visible leaders.
They are part of how you show up with intention.
Your branding images help people experience more of your story.
Your headshot helps them clearly see and recognize the person behind the message.
Both are valuable.
Both have a place.
And when they work together, they strengthen your professional presence.
If your work is visible, your image should be intentional.
