It's ironic, but this has been one of my most enjoyable years of photography while also being the one in which I shared the least. My passion for photography continues, but with a full time job and parenting I have so much less of me at the end of the day to do anything else. So with the little time I have, I often work on photos that nobody ever sees. Here are a few of my favorites from this past winter, shooting alongside my dear friend Darvin Atkeson. This is part 2 of my hike from Sentinel Dome to Taft Point. When I got to Taft Point I met these highliners from San Diego. They were the nicest guys you could ever meet, and I hung out with them for several hours. They taught me about the sport and I later sent them these shots. It really was one of my best days in Yosemite.

I owe my best photos of eagles at Bass Lake to the locals that helped me. From a morning boat ride with Ken Card to a fishing trip with Richard Walter, to countless times shooting alongside Larry Townsend, these moments are carved in my memory because of the people I was with. On this day in October, Darvin and I got to Conway Summit right at sunset. We talked about how we'd be back, how we'd do the Eastern Sierra justice with a proper trip. But only a few days later, all of the foliage in these trees would be blown away by a storm. I'm grateful we got to see the colors, however briefly.
