Last month, I had the honor of photographing the Henry family. After fighting and beating cancer earlier this year, they were told that their daughter Stella's brain tumors had returned and seemed to be growing aggressively. In a whirlwind and per the suggestion of Children’s Mercy here in KC, they chose to travel to MD Anderson in Houston, TX for treatment. Knowing that they had never done family photos, they made it a top priority to capture their family before Stella's surgery. With limited time to plan outfits, a long list of things to do to prepare, in a heat wave and Stella with double ear infections, I did a family photo session for the Henry family before surgery. Nothing speaks louder to me than a parent's need to photograph their young family in this moment of crisis, wanting to hold on to the moment and cherish the time with her babies because tomorrow is not promised for any of us.
