🚛🦪 Big news for Don’t Chuck Your Shucks!

The Center is hitting the road with a BRAND NEW truck and wrap dedicated to oyster reef restoration and cleaner waterways! This new ride will help collect recycled oyster shells from participating restaurants, transport them to the curing site, support restoration projects, and raise awareness throughout the watershed.

Why is the Don't Chuck Your Shucks program important? Recycled oyster shells help build oyster reefs that:
đź’§ Improve water quality
🦀 Create habitat for marine life
🌊 Protect shorelines from erosion

Keep an eye out for the new truck around town and help us spread the word about Don’t Chuck Your Shucks! 🦪♻️

It is no coincidence that Chesapeake Bay Week lands right alongside . It’s a reminder that the stories we tell about the Bay are really about something bigger, our connection to the environment, to each other, and to the places we call home.

Happy Earth Day and join us for a great night of programming beginning at 7pm on MPT! www.mpt.org/bayweek

Big problems like climate change are not going away, and avoiding the conversation only makes them harder to confront. That’s the idea behind a new podcast from the Woodwell Climate Research Center, host and executive producer Heather H.M. Goldstone said.

In an interview with the Enterprise on Monday, April 20, Goldstone said that discussing climate change openly, by asking questions and learning new concepts, is essential for helping everyday people understand the role they will play in an uncertain and changing future.

On the new podcast, “Not a Climate Scientist,” Goldstone speaks with guests who might not typically be featured in climate discussions. Guests include therapist and author Leslie Davenport, Fire Chief John Butler of Fairfax County, Virginia, and rancher Jim Howell. Over the course of each 30-minute episode, Goldstone and her conversation partners explore how climate change intersects with their professional and daily lives in accessible, relatable ways.

Goldstone, who serves as vice chairwoman of the Falmouth Select Board and works at Woodwell as a senior fellow after previously leading communications for the organization, said she saw a gap in climate coverage.
