UPDATE: EVENT POSTPONED

Due to logistics, this event has been delayed a few days.
Sorry folks. I'll still be in the Gorge for a while if anyone wants to hike?

I'm gonna be selling some prints of the Red River Gorge at the Gladie Cultural Visitor's Center. I'll be down there tomorrow from 10:30a-1:30p if anyone wants to swing by. I might go for a hike later?

A big THANK YOU to and helping me get everything together! I really appreciate your help putting this together!

The Old Fayette County Courthouse pt. 1

Here are a couple images of the old Fayette County Courthouse that I captured a few nights ago in downtown Lexington. I like the architecture of this building. It feels like a touch of days gone by, surrounded by the modern world of high-rise buildings and bustling people.

I have some vertical comps that I'll post shortly.

Double Moonbow

I captured this image of a double moonbow at Cumberland Falls State Resort Park in 2022. This was my second time visiting the park to photograph the moonbow.

This picture, taken in June, shows a supermoon that occurred that month. Because the sky was so clear, the exact flow of the waterfalls created enough mist to make a less visible, second moonbow! This image is a panorama made from six pictures taken at a 28mm focal length.

Mando and Grogu

I was playing around with a new light I ordered for some photo projects. I figured since they just released the Mandolorian and Grogu movie, I'd have a little bit of fun. I found this cool old tree with the trunk rotted out, that I used for the background. I used a small LED lamp for additional fill light.

Little Baby Chickadee

I rescued this little fella near my house today! I was outside refilling the feeders when I spotted a small oddly looking "stick" in the driveway at the entry gate of the complex. I gently scooped him up in my hands and placed him off to the side in the grass. I tried to keep him close to his original spot and not stress the mother anymore than she already was. I could hear her chirping in the canopy above me. I hope he makes it into adulthood. I'm worried the grey cat I see lurking near my feeders may find him. If not the cat? I'm sure those sh*tbag landscapers may end him? Fingers crossed 🤞🏻, and positive vibes for this little creature!

Astro Project in the Works

I'm back in the Red again tonight. I decided to take advantage of the clear skies tonight. I'm out on one of my favourite overlooks in The Gorge. I recently found out that I could shoot a Milky Way Arch panoramic image. I snapped this shot with my phone while shooting the "real" images with my D780. I got the 20mm 1.8 on her tonight. After I finish up my foreground, I'm gonna scoot over to the Chimney Top area and attempt to cross a couple of comps off of my astro bucket list.

Might dip into the Red for some astro imaging tonight? I gotta meet up with some people about some prints in the morning. As of now the weather looks to clear overnight. May hit up this spot at Whistling Arch again? Or head into the Sky Bridge area for some nighttime portrait comps and a MW arch pano? Hit me up later if anyone is gonna be out in the area? My hetero life partner, Jen, is trying to be a responsible adult at the moment and can't make it out tonight because of work. 😢 Gonna take a nap and charge the batts!

The Milky Way Arch Above Auxier Ridge

Here's an multi-row panoramic image I took of the Milky Way spanning over Auxier Ridge. I can't remember if I shared this image before? I took this image Memorial Day weekend 2025. This wasn't long after I met and "abducted" . We hiked up to The Observatory above Double Arch in the Red River Gorge. I used the light from the setting half moon to light the foreground, then shot the top row after the moon had moved below the horizon.

The Milky Way over Cumberland Falls

Here's an image I captured of the Milky Way core rising above Cumberland Falls and the Daniel Boone National Forest. I met up with Kerney Brock to shoot some nightscapes around the area. We hiked up here at the beginning of the evening, but the Milky Way did not line up over the falls until almost 4am. So we hiked down in the gorge and photographed some images around the falls. Despite being a clear night? The visibility was horrible. The Falls were kicking up a horrible curtain of mist that would obscure the sky at times. After we finished in the lowlands, I hiked back up to this overlook on the Eagle Falls Trail for this image. I sat there for 30 minutes or so? Continuously shooting images, hoping for a break in the mist. I got about 5 shots I could stack for the sky. I need to return to this spot when the water flow is not so heavy, and the dew point is a bit higher.
