Noah, we’re going to need a follow up.. how does your leg feel after hiking up God’s Thumb with a ring box in your sock??

I’ve seen some cool ring hiding locations in this job, but this one tops the charts for sure!

Proposals at God’s Thumb & The Knoll are some of my favorite. You get a beautiful hike with one of the best views on the Central Oregon Coast, deer and elk, and a great hike to spend your first hour as an engaged couple.

Well… sometimes you just have to roll with the punches 🤷🏼‍♂️

The song got mixed up. The wind had other plans for the decorations. For a few seconds, everything that had been carefully planned started going sideways.

And then he proposed.

She said yes. Their families celebrated. The mariachi played great music, and suddenly, none of the things that went “wrong” really mattered.

I think that’s one of my favorite things about documenting proposals like this. The goal isn’t to create something perfectly controlled. It’s to create something intentional where your partner can remember how much work you put into creating a special moment just for them.

Because sometimes the imperfect parts are what make the story worth telling.

And in the end, we still made something pretty damn beautiful out of it.

She stole the proposal flowers!! 💐

Ok for like two seconds… but I’m glad I was watching/listening😳

I was talking to the mariachi when I heard someone pick up the microphone I had tucked inside the flower bouquet. I set out flowers for all of my proposal sessions to mark the spot and get the process started and the mic allows me to record audio, but also keep an ear out for what is happening close to the spot.

Most bystanders walk right up to them and don’t pay much attention. This time she thought it was a wedding bouquet that someone dropped on the way to their ceremony!😂

Super nice family, and no harm was brought to the flowers… so we’re all good😄

She almost caught me! 😱

Luckily, Zack was an expert redirector and led her right to her predesignated engagement location!

As for the couple chilling on the park bench, they were more than happy to give Zack & Trista their space, creating a really intimate and beautiful proposal.

Your proposal session starts long before you drop to one knee🧎🏻‍♂️‍➡️🏃🏻‍♀️‍➡️

I make the bouquet, hike to the location, take some pictures for bystanders and explain why I’m carrying a bouquet of flowers… then eventually you show up and we can start the party!

And unsurprisingly, everyone always wants to be involved!🙌🏻

Someday shes going to look back on this trip and realize how lucky she was.

Oregon Coast summers are the most cinematic and picturesque setting to plan out a camping trip. It’s all about finding seashells, running around in the sand and roasting marshmallows by the campfire at night 🔥

What an awesome experience to give to your kids. Even better when it ends up in a vacation photo album to look back on later!

One of my favorite things to do as a kid was sit around the campfire, and those memories have stuck with me ever since.

These sessions are a little less posed and really show off the real/candid interactions with your partner and kids. Plus, if we’re being honest, it gives me a reason to chop wood and light things on fire 🙌🏻

Ally + Talon - Newport, Oregon

Some places become part of your story long before you realize just how important they’ll be.

Ally and Talon traveled from Utah with their family to get married on the Oregon Coast, returning to Newport, a place where they spent some of the early days of their relationship together.

Their wedding weekend felt like an extension of that history. Slow mornings in two side by side Airbnbs overlooking the Pacific, exploring the tide pools near the jetty, and plenty of time on the beach with their three huskies.

When it was time to get married, bright blue skies opened up over the coast. Their family gathered in chairs on the sand while Ally and Talon stood inside a half circle of flowers and were married by Ally’s mom, just a short distance from the places that already held so many memories for them.

No rushing from one place to the next. Just their family, their dogs, the ocean, and a few days to actually enjoy being together.

Exactly what an Oregon Coast wedding should feel like.

Planning a surprise proposal on the Oregon Coast? Here are two simple things that can make the whole experience go a lot smoother.

First, work with someone who actually knows the area. Tides, weather, crowds, and access can turn an incredible location into a terrible proposal spot. I scout and plan everything ahead of time so you know exactly where to go.

Second, I place a bouquet at the proposal spot before you arrive. It gives you an obvious destination and gets you exactly where I need you for the photos.

You don’t have to guess. I don’t have to guess. And ideally… nobody falls off a waterfall.
