Ever driven Skyline Drive at that magic hour when the leaves look like they're glowing from within? That's the moment I chased for this piece — a digital infrared print from Shenandoah National Park that turns the Blue Ridge into something almost otherworldly.
Infrared has a way of bridging the gap between what you see and what you can imagine. The greens go dreamy white. The sky deepens. Shadows get softer. Standing beside the drive that afternoon, I remember the silence hanging over the mountain like a slow exhale — and I knew this had to become more than just a throwaway photo on my phone. I set up my Canon 5D and composed this image to try to capture the silence and peace I felt that afternoon in nature. Later, on the computer, I worked to recreate in this print the peace from that day on the mountain. You tell me if I was successful.
