The ornery, territorial Rufous Hummingbirds are back in town.
Sticking out the tongue for the photographer pretty much sums up the attitude of these feisty little ones.

πŸ˜… Apparently sharing space is OK when it's "last call" at the feeder before sunset.

πŸ™‚ Enjoy the photos and the camera feeder video.

This beautiful male Western Tanager decided our water fountain was the perfect place to beat the summer heat. He hung out in the nearby tree and on the deck railing for a short photo session before splashing and drinking a bit, then moving on.

Mother Nature’s Fireworks 🌌✨

Early this morning on July 4th, the skies over Colorado delivered a spectacular show of a different kind.

At midnight, the Aurora Borealis filled the sky with predominantly pink, and around 1 a.m., more defined light pillars appeared as the moon lit the foreground.

πŸ˜ƒ Enjoy the still shots and the time-lapse.
Wishing everyone a peaceful and safe 4th of July.

June’s Strawberry Moon in the Haze πŸ“πŸŒ•

The Full Strawberry Moon rising on June 29 at 9:00 PM, making its appearance just twenty minutes after the 8:40 PM sunset.

Due to wildfire smoke drifting through, the atmosphere gave the moon an intense, deep glow, a somber reminder of the fires, but a visually stunning phenomenon to witness.

This particular full moon stayed incredibly low to the horizon, marking its lowest trajectory in years.

Also included, a short time-lapse of the nearly full moon (88% waxing) setting behind the trees at 2 AM on June 26.

Spa Day & Sweet Nectar

When the summer heat rolls in, these little local hummingbirds spend time cooling off in the water fountain in between snack time at the penstemons.

πŸ™‚ Enjoy!

Little Moose Calf Blowing Raspberries at the Photographer

Just when you think a newborn moose calf couldn't get any cuter, it sticks its tongue out right at the camera! This little calf was lying in the tall grass with mama moose, then nudged her up and began nursing - which I was lucky enough to capture on video!

😊 Enjoy this little one!

Evening Rush at the Hummingbird Feeder

The hummingbirds were crowding the feeder and trying to share a last meal just before sunset in the mountains.

😊 Turn up the sound to hear the hummingbird chatter!

High Capacity Cheeks

Packing light is overrated when your cheeks have this much storage capacity.
This little Golden-Mantled Ground Squirrel filled its cheeks to near capacity, displaying a "fretful" face trying to close its mouth.

πŸ˜‚ Please enjoy the comedy that I sometimes see through my lens!
