I feel like some of my best art comes from walking into a session and just raw do***ng it. As a serial perfectionist and overthinker, I get caught up in the smallest details. I obsess, I overanalyze, and before I know it, Iāve spun out in a chaotic mess of self-doubt. So, one of the ways I challenge that is by going into a shoot without needing all the answers. I donāt have to know exactly what the light is going to do or what every corner of the space looks like. I walk in, I connect with the environment, I connect with the person in front of me, and I let that guide the process. Thatās when the magic happens. The images become less about a perfect plan and more about something realā¦something that really feels like the person Iām photographing. I think a lot of us forget weāre human. We chase perfect like itās the goal, but honestly, perfect is rarely that interesting. The beauty is in the flaws, the hiccups, the mistakes, the chaos. Thatās where I thrive, and thatās where my art shines. So, if youāre anything like me and you get stuck in your head, I just want you to knowāthis is me, too. Iām still learning. I donāt have it all figured out. But if you ever feel stuck, just step back, let yourself sit with the unknown, and see what happens. You might surprise yourselfā¦.like I usually do.
