Evening Arwen: Custom Costumes and Corsets

Evening Arwen: Custom Costumes and Corsets Evening Arwen Costumes is here to help you bring your dream costume to life.

If there was one thing I'd like to come across from my business that I think sometimes gets lost in translation is that I am a business of one working in a field that I love. As of yet my products are not mass produced and I don't have workers or professional models and photographers. My fiance takes my photos and built my website, my friends and I model the costumes and I do everything else from

answering emails to driving around to find fabric to making the pattern, cutting out the material, creating the garment and shipping it off. The few times that I have employed someone to help out has been friends who are also passionate about costumes. I make costumes because I enjoy them and I enjoy what I do and that tends to come across in my attention to detail of the costume, the way that I communicate with my customers and in some of my original and inspired by deisngs.

Proving Tavs point that Astarion’s idea of “fun with the spawn” was perhaps unwise. Their little Dhampir though is having the time of her life. So maybe he was onto something. 😉 For the record, all props are fake and safety explained while this series of photos were taken. As well as safety about not playing with anything real and keeping it out to the side etc. The running looks much more exaggerated in photos then real life as well. I’ve posted these before as a reel but thought it would be cute to follow up yesterdays Dadstarion antics with these as a carousel. Starting to get a bit of a lull with material but I hope to have some new stuff to show from the dead wrath and beyond retreat soon as well as more leather making tutorials!

Next in my beginner leather making tutorial series is wet molding or wet forming leather. Once again I want to remind you that I’m keeping these short and sweet. This is more to understand what processes are out there that you can do with leather and what the terms are so you can correctly research more information on how to use these methods to help your craft or cosplay. And like everything there is always exceptions to the rules. But this is for the most part the basics when it comes to wet molding. While this is a beginner tutorial this isn’t really a beginner practice. But as you explore new skills in your leather making journey it’s one worthy of trying. It doesn’t have to be a huge precise project to utilize this technique either. It can be as simple as making leaves for a fairy cosplay and attaching them to a mask or belt and using this to curl the edges up and give them some life. As always if you have any questions feel free to ask and I’ll do my best to answer.

The next reel in my beginner leather making tutorials. This one is about the leather skiving tool. As you get into leather making you’ll find yourself come across a problem that will usually have a tool for it. Since straps and belts are some of the first projects people take on I wanted to briefly introduce the skiving tool. I like to focus on tools that are easy to access, use and cost friendly. So while there may be more advanced ways of doing this, those ways aren’t necessarily something you should be looking into if you’re just starting out. Start small and practice and if you find yourself wanting to expand your leather knowledge then there are so many amazing books, classes and how to’s out there to explore. They will also be easier to understand once you develop a base to build off of. I’m keeping these tutorials very simple and trying to not to overload them with information. These are just to help those who need some guidance when it comes to each of these pieces I talk about. There’s always more info and research you can do afterwards once you’re pointed in the right direction.

Leather making and crafting tutorials are plentiful on the internet and I debated about making more to add. There’s many out there who have even more knowledge than I do. But I’ve had a few of my sewing and crafting tutorials get lots of love and figured maybe there’s more of a need for explaining beginner level leatherwork than I realize. I’ve also seen some tutorials get very information heavy or go the opposite and be a little to simple for a lot of work. So I wanted to focus on breaking leather work techniques that I’ve learned on my own as well as working as a prop maker in the film industry into individual reels and focus only on one thing at a time. It may seem obvious to some people but for someone just starting out this may be what they need to start researching and making choices when it comes to their work. I hope this tutorial is helpful and if it is keep following as I’ll try and release more asap and add them to my story highlight. As always, any questions feel free to ask!

Still not over these! Am I a wizard? A cleric? A Paladin? I don’t know lol. But I look like I could take on an army of mythical creatures and that’s all that matters. Still so many other Baldur’s Gate 3 cosplays I want to do. I’d love to do a recognizable character but not sure who that should be. I don’t feel like I look like any of the female characters. Until I figure it out I shall continue being Tav I guess.

Astarion failed all the perception checks at this locale. Catstarion took over. Get this man a sound bath now!! Funny thing is this was all my hubby being super into it. 😂 I looked over and saw him fully immersed and being adorable and I had to take a video. This is another one of those reels I post because it makes me both laugh and smile. And then this Audio came to mind. Question is, will this be like Astarion enjoying a slushie? Weirdly popular and adding to my confusion of what kind of content I should be posting. 🤷🏼‍♀️ Either way, I found it whimsical so up it goes.

Some of my cosplay and costume making work from the past. My Star Trek and Star Wars corsets cosplays took off and gave me a chance to do other cosplays and build my business doing commissions for others. I cringe though on some of what I made because my skill is so much better now. To be fair I wasn’t charging nearly enough for my work so I guess it’s ok lol! Commissions were so hard and when I broke down what I was earning it came to like $1 an hour. If I ever do commissions again I’d need to completely rethink how I do it. And pre made would be the way to go. Not custom.
