showing what movie magic looks like!

They shot this sequence on a stage using a Virtual Production Video Wall also commonly referred to as a “Volume stage”

The actress was laying flat, but thanks to the screen and camera angles, they made it look like she was climbing this steep mountain!

Have you ever used a Volume stage for your production?

Some really cool Robo BTS from a Qantas Air safety video!

Here’s what the crew had to say:

A little BTS from the new Qantas pre-flight safety video, showing shots where we got to stretch our legs with some camera motion control robotics across a portion of the production.

🛩️ A huge thanks to and the amazing team for coordinating this mammoth project, and the Sydney crew - from Southern Cross Cameras and grip for all the heavy lifting - and who welcomed us into the fold to get the job done in a lot of tight spaces. Beautiful shots from the brilliant , bringing director Harry Tonks’ vision to life for a safety film that feels unique, entertaining and very much a return to Qantas’ roots.

🥂 Well done all.

Here’s some really cool BTS of the motion capture they used on Avatar!

The dots on their face are used to track their emotion and movement of the face.

This is captured by the camera that’s mounted in front of their face.

A diagram showing how the infamous Mirror system worked on The Odyssey!

IMAX had to develop a special blimp for their cameras in order to allow Christopher Nolan to shoot dialogue scenes on IMAX.

The result though was this huge box that made it impossible to shoot an actors single, while maintaining the correct eye line, due to the size of the blimp.

So Nolan challenged the camera department to come up with this two way mirror system.

The crew would rig these mirrors in a way that would allow one actor to stand beside the camera and deliver their lines, while the actor in frame would be looking at them through the mirror.

The crew could position these mirrors in a way to maintain the correct eye line for both sides, making it look seamless to us as the audience!
